A New Chapter for Loxton Heritage Park

Loxton Heritage Park has always been a place full of stories, and now, it’s beginning an exciting new chapter.

The park has recently been adopted with a clear and heartfelt purpose: to care for, restore, and celebrate this special space so that it can be enjoyed by the wider community for years to come. This isn’t about a quick fix or a single project. It’s about a journey, one step at a time, towards a park that reflects pride, history, and shared responsibility.

Over the coming months, there will be a lot of work happening behind the scenes. From general clean-ups and maintenance to longer-term improvements, each task plays a role in moving the park closer to what it can ultimately become: a welcoming, well-loved heritage space that tells its story with dignity and care. Progress won’t happen overnight, but every bit of effort brings us closer to that vision.

What makes this journey especially meaningful is that Loxton Heritage Park is not standing alone. Milnerton is home to a growing network of community-driven organisations and partners who are actively working to improve both the environment and the quality of life in our area.

Initiatives such as Rethink the Stink have already shown what’s possible when a community comes together with purpose. Their work has played a vital role in the clean-up of the Milnerton Lagoon, demonstrating the real, visible impact that collective action and environmental commitment can achieve.

We would also like to highlight the Milnerton Central Ratepayers Association (MCRA), under which this project falls, for their ongoing support of community-led improvement, as well as the City of Cape Town, whose cooperation and guidance are essential in the stewardship of shared public spaces.

In addition, Prism Employee Benefits has contributed through their ESG engagement, not ESG in the buzzword sense, but in a practical, people-focused way. Their seed capital has helped get the ball rolling, turning good intentions into tangible action. Because what’s the point of building financial futures if we do not also invest in creating a decent environment to retire into?

The adoption of Loxton Heritage Park forms part of this bigger picture. It’s a reminder that positive change doesn’t always start with large institutions; it often begins with local residents, community organisations, and values-aligned partners choosing to take responsibility for the places they call home.

We look forward to sharing updates as the work progresses, celebrating milestones along the way, and recognising the many hands and hearts that help make this possible.

If you would like to get involved and be informed about any park clean-ups in the future, please get in touch with Gary on 082 552 6603. Whether you can lend a hand, spread the word, or simply show your support, every contribution matters.

Together, we’re not just restoring a park,  we’re building a legacy.
